SyAAF MiG-23MLD Hit by TOW ATGM in Neyrab Airbase

For the third time, Haraket Hazm 'Hazm Movement' succeed to surprise the 'calm' Neyrab Airbase (Aleppo IAP) in these snowing days and hit one of its ex-Belorussian MiG-23MLDs as can be seen in the footage in the video below.

Previously, Hazm Mov. succeed to damage two L-39ZA on 21st Oct. 2014: one of them received direct hit, while the other is damaged due to the shrapnel of the explosion. After that and on 7th Nov. 2014, Hazm hit a MiG-23MLD which beside another MiG-23UB is stationed and damaged due to the shrapnel as well.

The MiG-23MLD our case this post is the one serialed '07' as can be seen intact in this photo below prior to its damage.

SyAAF L-39 Albatros - Updated IV

The most beautiful still for SyAAF units ever! The aerobatic team represented by L-39's passing over Rasm Al Abboud (Kweres) AFB sometime in early 2000's.

It's abnormal to see a Syrian Albatros had its fin tip tinted in Red. This armed L-39ZO carries the number 2052.

A 2007 dated 'Selfie' taken in Kshesh (Jarrah) AFB shows an L-39ZO with serial 2060.

A still in Kweres airbase shows row of L-39ZO's on the secondary western tarmac, one of which carries the serial 2096.

Again in Kweres airbase, a still shows an L-39ZA carries the serial 2127 and fitted with FAB-100 bombs.

This looks as well in Kweres AFB.

Row of L-39's in Neyrab airbase on tarmac infront of the overhaul facility, these Albatroses carried out extensive sorties over Aleppo area last year. Note the fin of the MiG-23MLD to the far left of the photo.

SyAAF MiG-23's - UPDATED (MLD/ML/MF)

Amazing close up to a Syrian (ex-Belorussian) MiG-23MLD with serial 07 in Neyrab airbase (Aleppo IAP) stationed at the main tarmac in the military part of this airport infront of the overhaul facility...(Thanks for our great friend for this exclusive share to Luftwaffe A.S blog)
Syrian air force received on 2009 '33' MiG-23MLD/UB's from Belorussia and were stationed in this base for overhaul, till this date only few numbers left (around 3~5).

Syrian MiG-23MF in a ground attack sortie over Sarmin town (Idleb governorate) spotted on 11th April 2014.

Another MF was spotted before landing in Hama AFB (current base of this variant) early 2014.

MiG-23MF just seconds before dropping FAB bombs over villages of Jabal Azzawiyah (Idleb governorate), spotted on 18th Jan. 2014.

IL-76's Spotted in Syria

Let's start with an Iranian Il-76 spotted about to land in Hama AFB on 27th Feb. 2014. The serial is not readable.

Again, an Iranian Il-76 landing in Hama AFB on 10th Mar. 2014.

Another one spotted landing in Hama AFB as well, date is unknown. This assures the importance of Hama AFB which is considered the hotspot of supplies Assad regime is receiving in the mid area of Syria then distributing them into the other bases.

A stunning shot for two Il-76's the moment the passed beside each others somewhere in the sky of Idleb and specifically over Bennesh town on 20th Dec. 2013.
They should be Russian Candid's those are sent to Syria to assist in transferring the chemical weapons.

Syrian Air Il-76 landing in Hama AFB on 28th May 2013.

Another Syrian Air Il-76 spotted in Neyrab AFB (Aleppo IAP) which was seen in many events standstills in its place for weeks before it disappeared from there in early 2014.

Closer take for the same Candid.

Also another Syrian Air Il-76 could be photographed either in Damascus IAP or in Dhmair AFB, as it was reported a month ago that such transporter is landing in Dhmair intensively the last period and up to three times a day!

Photos of SyAAF Helicopters (Misc)

Syrian Navy Mi-14PS looks to be performing a 'show' near the corniche of Tartous city.

Another shot for a Mi-14PS in Hmemim airbase (Lattakia IAP).

Mi-14PS carrying the serial 1475 flying over Qal'et Al-Hosn after regime forces conquered the area. This was photographed on 18th April 2014.

Closer shot for the same Mi-14PS which was called here to video the Syrian flag formed by volunteers in the Citadel itself.

Again in Lattakia IAP, a press team was transported from/to this airbase to cover an event in Syria infront of a SyAAF Mi-17 with serial 37.
Note behind the boom of a SyAAF Hind Mi-25 and the row of three Mi-14PL's and one Mi-14PS to the right.

Another press reporter standing infront of a SyAAF Hip in Neyrab airbase (Aleppo IAP) on 2nd Feb. 2014. This Mi-8 carries the serial 260 as seen in another video for the same event.

SyAAF Mi-17 was spotted flying nearby Dummar district in Damascus on 5th Sept. 2012.

A photo for a SyAAF helicopter pilot was taken in an airbase (could be Taftanaz) with an armed Mi-17 and Mi-8 in background.

SyAAF Mi-25 spotted over Hama city on 2nd Mar. 2014 fitted with two FAB's.

Photos from SyAAF NEYRAB AFB (Aleppo IAP)

Few rare shots I could find taken in the air force base -currently more than an international airport- of Neyrab, since almost two years this air base has been playing a serious role in the attack sorties the SyAAF is conducting against Aleppo city and its country.
This base has been attacked by FSyA many times, been under siege for few months, resulted in a suspected damage to a Syrian Air Il-76 has been stationed there and seen along a year in its place on the main tarmac of the civilian part.

No surprise to see the L-39's are still flying these days over Aleppo which the last one was spotted just yesterday, as 'The Factory' in this base keeps them operational.

Above, a photo for an armed L-39ZA carrying the serial 2145 spotted a year ago firing unguided rockets and releasing FAB's over Aleppo. Beside it another L-39ZA with serial 2130.

Another shot for one of these L-39ZA's with its rocket pods.

A shot from distance for the tarmac of the military section of the base showing the frontal hangars of 'The Factory' with four L-39's infront. In many aerial images and various videos for this area, there were around four MiG-23's left, probably are UB variants.

Returning back to the civilian section where few Mi-8's are parking there. The above carries the serial 35.

Another Mi-8 beside, with serial 79 (having its complete serial number 379).

Finally, a shot for the Il-28 in its place with a fuselage of a Meteor lies infront.

SyAAF Various III

Iranian Il-76 spotted just before landing in Hama AFB sometimes earlier this year.

Wonderful and HD shot for "the inside" of Hama AFB, shows a column of at least nine Mi-8's; To the right side, a two-seat MiG-23UB often nonoperational since not a single one was spotted flying or taxiing in this AFB.

Close shot for the Polish made agricultural PZL Dromedar, the location is unidentified, it carries the serial YK-AMD written in black under the wing.

In the same place, another unrecognized propeller which was first seen flying over Al Atareb in Aleppo province on 13 March 2012 in this VIDEO; It might be an aerial photography aircraft.

Very clear shot of the only survivor SyAAF Il-28 in Aleppo IAP (Neyrab AB).

Another shot from front shows scrapped frames of some Mi helicopters.

Also another photo for the same, which shows the fuselage of a SyAAF Metero scrapped infront of the Beagle.

Wings Over Syria : ILYUSHIN-28

In early 1960s, SyAAF received the first jet bomber the Il-28, this profile shows the exact camo for most of jets delivered from Soviet Union at that time (all in metallic silver same as MiG-15/17).

Many sites state that SyAAF received dozens of Beagles, the correct story is that SyAAF has received and operated only TWO of this aircraft; one of these aircraft crashed when its engine inhaled a STORK !!! Eventually, the engine caught fire and caused of aircraft falling down.

The second Beagle R.I.P in Neyrab airbase, you can see its tail here, note there are wreckage of many Mi-8's here also.

Another image from sky. The two drop tanks don't belong to this Il-28, they look too close to these famous ones attached to the belly hard points of the MiG-21.

Note the extra fuel tanks attached to wing tips, this aircraft looks intact and in a very good situation taking into consideration the 40~50 years it laid here.
