SyAAF L-39 Albatros - Updated IV

The most beautiful still for SyAAF units ever! The aerobatic team represented by L-39's passing over Rasm Al Abboud (Kweres) AFB sometime in early 2000's.

It's abnormal to see a Syrian Albatros had its fin tip tinted in Red. This armed L-39ZO carries the number 2052.

A 2007 dated 'Selfie' taken in Kshesh (Jarrah) AFB shows an L-39ZO with serial 2060.

A still in Kweres airbase shows row of L-39ZO's on the secondary western tarmac, one of which carries the serial 2096.

Again in Kweres airbase, a still shows an L-39ZA carries the serial 2127 and fitted with FAB-100 bombs.

This looks as well in Kweres AFB.

Row of L-39's in Neyrab airbase on tarmac infront of the overhaul facility, these Albatroses carried out extensive sorties over Aleppo area last year. Note the fin of the MiG-23MLD to the far left of the photo.

Syrian GLA Air Force

Few days ago, Al-Arabia has published a video report about the 'Jaish Al-Islam' captured L-39 aircraft in Kshesh AFB as can be seen HERE.

This video looks the same one recorded by the team who edited the first promo of Jaish Al-Ismal operations published on Nov. 2013.

The colors and pattern of the camo are totally new, especially with the black accents to the fin and nose.

The videos show two L-39 operational could successfully start their engines and taxi. Whether they took off or not, if Jaish Al-Islam could bring another L-39 operational...all these are still unknown as the AFB is tightly secured.

Jaish Al-Islam relied on the defected pilots and technicians to fix the intact aircrafts which service is not as complicated as other MiG/Su jets.

This L-39 is carrying its original serial 2111 as we could see in one of the stills which showed the aircraft in its SyAAF camo.

As stated above, the two airframes could successfully taxi on tarmac but never seen flying.

The second intact L-39 could be brought into service is this one with serial 2141 (this shot was taken before it wore its new camo).

Another unit technicians were working on is this Albatros with serial 2074.

More details can be found in Oryx's wonderful post HERE.

SyAAF L-39 Albatros - Updated III

Some great findings I could collect from the web, even some very private photos been published for the first time, here as always !!
An L-39ZA side by side with its pilot (RIP in the recent Syrian uprising), unfortunately, the serial is not readable.

Nice shot for an L-39 with serial 2052 photographed in Kshesh training air field few years ago...

Self portrait for a SyAAF pilot (also RIP during the uprising) inside his L-39, also from the squadron based in Kshesh airbase.

Formation of at least five L-39s somewhere over the area of Kshesh air field, two serials are readable here: 2063 and 2134.
The latter was captured by rebels upon purifying Kshesh airbase early this year.

Another self shot from inside the cabin, the adjacent L-39 carries the serial 2063.

And here again...

Wonderful shot for an L-39 with serial 2067 which appears for the first time in public media.

Close shot for the cabin of an L-39 which serial is 2079, note that the serial number is written in Arabic digits on the seat.
This photo and the ones below are recently taken from the purified Kshesh (Jarrah) airbase.

Clear and awesome shot for the one with serial 2118.

This one carries the serial 2125, the serial can be read written on the seat as well.

Thanks God this bomb is still mounted on this aircraft, not been released on towns and villages...

Artistic shot for an L-39, should be the one with serial 2134.

Photos from SyAAF KSHESH AFB (Part IIII)

Some more photos...I'd start with a very artistic shot for the row of scrapped MiG-15s / 17s...

Excellent HD shot...

Another HD shot for the L-39 with serial 2118.

From another corner...

As seen from behind the fence of the airbase...

Damaged L-39 inside the HAS which was bombed by regime aircraft in a "desperate measures" to counter-attack the "Green Invasion"...

A look at L-39 cockpit.

Two MiG-15UTI's in different camo's.

MiG-15UTI with serial 263.

Close shot for another MiG.

MiG-17 with old SyAAF flag.

And another MiG-17 here.

Photos from SyAAF KSHESH AFB (Part III)

Again moreeeee !!!
Couple of MiG-17s RIP "hand in hand" , the left one at least carries the old SyAAF flag (Egyptian flag nowadays).

Another still for the row of MiG-15s / 17s, the first two are MiG-17s, the other four are MiG-15UTIs.

More MiGs...

General view for the MiGs boneyard.

Double HAS contains four L-39s.

Beside it, remnants of an L-39, rear fuselage and seats.

The main fuselage lay to the side of the HAS.

Closer view to the back-to-back L-39s.

Unfortunately, the serial is covered, but these two airframes look in good status.

In the other HAS, an L-39 with serial 2133 being examined by rebels.

The one to the back is with serial 21xx, fitted with two FAB's.

This L-39 with serial 2135 survived the bombing of SyAAF aircraft which succeeded to destroy its mate.
