Photos from SyAAF TABQA AFB (Part V)

The updated and most comprehensive post about Tabqa AFB is ready now to be shared with our audiences!
Before you start scrolling down, it would be highly recommended to download the KEYMAP of this airbase in order to understand the location of the seen airframes in the footages of videos and photos appeared so far.

I would specially thank our friend Peter Weinert for his to-bone contribution to realize the final KEYMAP which enabled us relatively locate each seen aircraft as precise as possible, in addition to providing me some valuable photos for serials never seen before! Thanks again Pit, thanks Tom Cooper as well!

Accordingly, we could survey the following airframes:

MiG-21bis
- 2217

MiG-21MF
- 460
- 471
- 1543
- 1568
- 1569
- 3 unknown serial

MiG-21M
- 1810

MiG-21UM
- 545
- 560
- 571
- 2357
- 2360
- 2 unknown serial

MiG-21 (Unknown Variant)
- 1915
- 8 unknown serial

That in addition to one MiG-15UTI and few scrapped MiG-21's in the bone yard to the east part of the airfield.

A new photo for the 2360 MiG-21UM.

Good shot for the 2357 MiG-21UM.

The same 2357 MiG-21UM here as well.

This shot is taken over the furthest western double HAS in this airbase showing the 571 serialed MiG-21UM.

Closer shot at this trainer.

The camera man is standing over the same HAS but looking this time north east to reveal the only photo for the 545 MiG-21UM.

At the bottom of this double HAS, a scrapped rear fuselage of a MiG-21 carrying the serial which hardly may read 1915.

We counted 6 MiG-21M/MF's been towed out after 2012 -three left with unknown serials- as they cannot be located over any electronic map so far...

A great shot shows the profile of the 1568 MiG-21MF.

The famous 460 MiG-21MF...

The only MiG-21bis left in this AFB with serial 2217.

MiG-21 can be seen through the HAS #6 at the eastern side of the base.

R-3 Air-to-Air missiles left inside a HAS as well.

Photos from SyAAF TABQA AFB (Part IV)

The last batch of photos -so far- for the overrun airbase of Tabqa revealing photos for at least eleven MiG-21's leaving tens of sadly scraped units (there are few MiG-15/17's among) without any photo record.
Again, I would recommend to download the 'KEY MAP' of this airbase in order to understand the location of each unit seen here.

2217 MiG-21bis...who did say ISIS won't find pilots :P

Photos from SyAAF TABQA AFB (Part III)

Tabqa AFB Key Map
Some more amazing stuff here emerged from Tabqa AFB that was seized by ISIS on 25th August. I worked on various videos and photos in coordination with the greatest GE which from I succeeded to indicate the location of each MiG-21 appeared in, and reflecting that on the 'KEY MAP' above, just download it and do your best to find the RED MiG's with their variant and serial written beside. (note that each RED aircraft is oriented as seen on footage).

Let's say that this is the first time to have a solid evidence for UM trainers with serials in range 5xx; also to see an MF with serial 18xx instead of 15xx or even the rare 4xx range alike that poor 460 damaged on the gate of this base !!

Double HAS with two MiG-21UM's inside (the 560 is to the right) and 2217 MiG-21bis outside

SyAAF after the 1973 war. Special thanks to Tom Cooper)

Photos from SyAAF TABQA AFB (Part II)

Finally the Tabqa AFB is overrun. On 25th Aug. 2014, the regime announced a tactical evacuation to this airbase which resulted eventually to be seized by ISIS.
Good amount of photos came out from this air field considering that I did not expect more than few stills to be published by ISIS...Anyway, who among them does care for some scrapped MiGs!?!?
Above, a great shot for the 2360 MiG-21UM infront of a double HAS.

Another still for the same 2360 MiG-21UM. It looks phased-out recently here.

Another poor UM inside a HAS.

Another phased-out MiG-21UM with serial 2357.

Stunning shot for a double HAS to the far west of the base, houses two MiG-21UM's with one MiG-21bis with serial 2217 infront.

MiG-21MF with serial 1543 is photographed inside a HAS as well.

The same...

The poor 460 MiG-21MF at the gate.

A dozen of AA-2 (R-3S) air-to-air missiles were fallen into ISIS' hands too.

Photos from SyAAF TABQA AFB (Part I)

Many activists' FB pages reported that Tabqa AFB has fallen to ISIS, I can't confirm this without photos from the heart of the base. Anyway, I will take this opportunity to post the first batch and could be the last for this base while it is under SyAAF control.
Above, a Gazelle with serial 1343 has been deployed into this airbase armed with four HOT ATGM missiles.

At least, two Mi-25's were also detached to this base as they are much more effective against individuals and vehicles than Jets.

This Hind should be the same videoed yesterday carrying a single FAB bomb fitted to its right wing.

I dare not say this is a MiG-21MF taxiing -considering its more than 40 years of service with SyAAF-, but it really looks an MF with its original camo colors.

A MiG-21bis preparing to take off.

Another MiG-21bis taxiing after landing.

Sadly, the famous MiG-21MF at the entrance of the airbase -with serial 460- is photographed today in this status.

A phased out MiG-21 -should be an MF- at the base.

Tabqa airbase is mainly for training for MiG-21's. Here above, a MiG-21UM with serial 2360.

Another MiG-21UM phased-out near the double HAS at the western side of the air field.

This UM was photographed today by rebels as well, it is phased-out at the road to the airbase.
