SyAAF Mi-17 Destroyed (2017-07-02)

Yesterday, ISIS fighters succeeded to destroy a SyAAF Mi-17 immediately after landing at the area of Al Assad Hospital at the western part of Deir EzZour city by targeting it by an ATGM.
The helo in question is said to be delivering food and medication from Qamishli with four persons on board, all are KIA as reported.

The footage of this VIDEO published by Amaq News shows that the ATGM could be as far as little more than 2km to the east of the target at the outskirt of the city.

SyAAF Loses Two of Her L-39s in Deir EzZour AB

Last Sunday, 8th Jan. ISIS fighters damaged two L-39s parked inside the double-HAS at the furthest western side of Deir EzZour airfield by ATGMs fired from a considerably close distance; the whole footage can be seen in this VIDEO.

Providing that no reports raised from Deir EzZour about night sorties of SyAAF units which the L-39 becomes famous with; add to that the area aside the HAS is kinda empty of trucks and personnel, I can say these two Albatroses were stored and not airworthy for period; eventually, both the aircraft caught fire and completely melt down.

One wonders how SyAAF did not arrange any measure to protect these easy-to-maintain aircraft which were spotted by ISIS fighters in a video from the same area published last September.

SyAAF MiG-21 Crashed (2016-07-14)

Today, a SyAAF MiG-21 could be operating from either Deir EzZour AB or even from Qamishli airport is crashed near Deir EzZour city resulting on the death of pilot Col. Maher Kash'oor "العقيد ماهر جابر قشعور" .
It is not confirmed as well whether the jet has crashed due to a technical failure -as know, Soviet jets becomes less efficient in hot weather especially that area is witnessing 45+ degrees temperature these days- or shot down by ISIS as claimed by their media.
Footage of crash site can be seen in this VIDEO.

Photos of SyAAF MiG-21s - Updated III

Unique and for the first time a stunning photo for a SyAAF MiG-21bis carries a serial starts with 22xx ready to scramble inside a HAS fitted with four AA-2 air-to-air missiles (variant is not clear whether R or M).

A SyAAF MiG-21bis spotted maneuvering over Erbeen town in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus on 20th Nov. 2012.

Another bis spotted flying over Mleha town on 26th May 2014 during the Syrian Army offensive at that area.

The next day as well, 27th another bis was spotted.

Group of various variants of MiG-21's phased out in Deir EzZour AFB. The one on Tarmac looks the only operational one.

Amazing shot for a Syrian MiG-21bis dispensing flares over Eastern Ghouta towns on 12th May 2014.

Another shot for the same here, as it looks fitted with S-24 air-to-surface missiles.

I'll end this post here with a wonderful still of a SyAAF MiG-21bis seconds after it left the runway of Dmair AFB fitted with four FAB-100 bombs. The serial looks like 2241.

SyAAF Mi's & MiG's in Deir EzZour AFB

Deir EzZour AFB is still one of the Assadist regime's stronghold not only in Deir EzZour city, but in the Eastern part of Syria which is called Al Jazeera, as it is the home base of MiG-21's those perform bombardment and attack sorties over the city and nearby villages.

I could find these two shots for this AFB, both were taken on 26th Dec. 2012.
The first one above shows the double HAS in the furthest west of the airbase sheltering a pair of MiG-21bis, a MiG-23BN stands between the HAS and another row of MiG-21's (look to be phased out).
Referring to the available records, the MiG-23BN was very effective during the fourth quarter of 2012 and was last seen operating from this base in the mid of May 2013, knowing that this variant was never seen in Deir EzZour AFB before the uprising.

The second shot shows the heli's tarmac infront of the airbase command's buildings, pair of Mi-25's and three Mi-8/17's.

A very interesting video showing the main jet tarmac with five MiG-21's in row, and two are inside the eastern double HAS.
