Syrian Air An-26 Crashed in Abu DhHour

Hour by hour, the story of the crash of a 'regime midsize transporter' is getting true, of course that until a full photo report is published to confirm this incident.

Since the latest clashes took place around the airbase between the regime forces and rebels represented by Jabhat AnNusra and Jaish Al-Islam after the fall of 'Wadi Al-Deif' into the hands of rebels, it was reported that an 'Ilyushin' -should be the Il-76- safely landed in the airfield to deliver ammo and food three times at least. But, it's apparent now that -like the 'MiG'- 'Ilyushin' would be called upon any transporter or airliner the regime is operating.

The incident took place today 18th Jan. 2015 early morning, when a Syrian Air YK-AND An-26 operated by SyAAF crashed nearby the airfield and resulted in the death of all 37 on board including the crew. It is still unknown the way this transporter hit the ground and what apparently looks considerably far from the runway.

The only and historical flight of the Syrian Air YK-SQG Yak-40 from Damascus IAP to Aleppo IAP on 22nd Jan. 2014 after almost a year of halting flight to the latter.

Another take of the same Yak-40 in Aleppo IAP, no news about any other civil transporter landed in Aleppo IAP since that event.

Tabqa AFB On Syrian State TV


This afternoon, the Syrian official TV channel broadcasted a video report from Tabqa AFB confirming the airbase is till safe despite the continues trials from ISIS/ISIL to overrun it.
The video contains a tour in the air field where we could see HAS's and few phased-out MiG-21's.

Also, it showed a MiG-21bis taxiing after landing (as the drogue parachute compartment is open aside as can be seen here above).

Many FB pages reported the intensive traffic of military transporters 'Ilyushin' from and to the airbase, the An-26 above was among.

The biggest surprise here is to see a Gazelle deployed in this base!! This one carries the serial 1343.
